The Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC) unveiled a new designation program during the 2009 Fire-Rescue International conference. This new credential, named Fire Officer (FO) designation, is for junior officers and others aspiring to become chief fire officers. The program is designed to provide a model for individual professional development and career planning that will ensure leadership succession for the industry and its individual agencies.
